Certification and IT Training

Proper certification in software and hardware is essential both to advance your career and help reassure clients of your competency. Information technology of all kinds is an evolving industry, and many workers come from a non-traditional background, with a blend of computer courses and self-taught expertise. Thus certification, which can be proprietary or vendor neutral, rounds off many people's IT training resumes.
The role of this sort of certification has only expanded with the industry. While in the early days of computer, knowing a few programming languages was enough to be considered more than adequate, now even web design courses or administrative assistant work needs you to be an expert with web analytic software or get credentials to prove you understand various office software.
In some cases, software and hardware manufactures unite for universal standards. This can be necessary professional co-operation and reduces the chances of commercial products being completely displaced by an open source option. On the other hand, some companies create their own in house certification. The advantage of this is that it is often included with free training materials and minimal certification fees. This allows companies that want to use the hardware or software to be confident in their employee's abilities, which in turn keeps software or hardware as an industry standard. For example at the buying stage, companies are most likely to use a particular system if they know it will work well without causing additional challenges.
A good place to find help acquiring certification is either through the association that oversees the provision of certification exams, or vocational and professional institutions that offer computer courses. Generally diploma programs of all kinds will offer this sort of IT training to their students, and may even provide exam fees as part of tuition. For employees, some schools actually specialize in corporate computer courses. Many companies budget for their employee's ongoing education. This sort of investment is very common whether it is a programming language or web design courses.
The way the material is presented also leads to many different ways to learn. Highly motivated learners can often find free online resources or buy instructional books, but even when certification materials are available for free or inexpensively, other students prefer getting the more direct guidance of an education program. Having an experienced veteran help with your IT training can help keep you focused.
With your credentials in hand, this will greatly improve your ability to navigate the changing currents of the IT world. And, as such a natural part of the business, employers expect you to take regular computer courses to collect the appropriate certification as new technology is developed.

What Are the Mistakes You Can Make While Opt for an IT Certification?

IT certifications are hot topics in any IT firm. Most of the IT certifications are vendor specific which provides certification at various levels of the technology platform in use. For example, a certification in core Java will be on the basics of Java technology platform which is followed by another certification in advanced Java which will focus on the advance concepts of Java. IT certifications attract a lot of students and professional from time to time, but there are some mistakes which can be made while selecting a certification to be pursued.
The most common mistakes which a candidate can make while selecting an IT certification are as follows:
Opt for a popular certification than to go for what you love to do: Professionals as well as students tend to choose an IT certification that's "hot" in the market rather than choosing a certification which is of their interest. It becomes essential to choose a certification based on the topics of the candidate's interest and follow the trends in the world of IT certifications.
Lack of relevant experience to back an IT certification: the actual benefit of achieving an IT certification can be derived only when it backed by relevant experience in the concerned field of IT.
Depending only on certification exam study material and not opting for an instructor-led program: This would be most common mistake which a candidate can do when he decides to pursue a certification in IT. It is very important to attend instructor-led training classes as knowledge from course books and other resources would not be sufficient.
Carefully selecting the training program vendor: When a candidate opts for a training program, the credibility of the training company should be check and verified. This is essential to ensure that a candidate gets the best training possible with ample practical sessions.
To be sure before you appear for a certification: One mistake which a candidate can avoid is to skip the certification if there's a lack of preparation or confidence. It is always better to perform a self analysis to ascertain your preparation level.
Expecting too much from certification in terms of career growth: IT certifications help you to gain additional skills and knowledge, but it doesn't necessarily guarantee career advancements as you might expect.
IT certifications will continue to be in demand seeing the dynamic nature of the IT industry, but the above mentioned mistakes should be avoided so that the candidate can opt for the right certification with right expectations from it. The IT certifications require that a proper training program which must be followed to achieve the best possible knowledge out of an IT certification. By avoiding the common mistakes while selecting an IT certification the candidates would be able to reap actual benefits of these certifications.

Cisco Certifications 101

San Jose, California-based Cisco Systems is a recognized world leader in the design, manufacture and sale of networking equipment. They are certainly a formidable force, commanding a huge market share for its various products, leading to a $10-billion net income in fiscal year 2012.
Cisco also has a line of certifications for its many different products. The Cisco site even features a very streamlined certification path tool that allows professionals of all levels to quickly drill down to the appropriate career path certifications. Cisco has five levels of network certification: Entry, Associate, Professional, Expert and Architect, the highest level of accreditation within the Cisco Career Certification program.
Cisco Certifications
In 2009, Cisco introduced the new Cisco Certified Architect ranking, which helps IT networking professionals work with both IT and non-IT executives in the business. The CCA is now the highest level of certification from Cisco and will be fusing the IT knowledge required of a Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert or CCIE with MBA business principles.
With Architect, these five levels form the Cisco certification hierarchy and cover seven different paths:
  1. Design
  2. Network Security
  3. Routing and Switching
  4. Service Provider
  5. Storage Networking
  6. Voice
  7. Wireless
The Entry-level Network Technician (ENT) is a good place to start for anyone who is just starting out in networking, such as fresh graduates. Then there are the Associate level certifications, such as the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), which is regarded as a passport to a career in IT networking. CCNA tests your basic competency in installing and providing support for medium sized Cisco networks. CCNA certifications cost $250.
After earning your Associate certifications, you can proceed to the Professional and then the Expert level certifications. These certifications help solidify your understanding and skills in the specific area of expertise you have chosen.
The Architect level certification would not be easy to attain. On top of obtaining the CCIE, you would also need to pay a lot of money for it. The CCA costs $15,000 and requires a minimum of 10 years of experience working in the IT industry.
More than this, you would need to be accepted into the Architect program where you would be asked to propose networking solutions to different business requirements. You would face a panel of experts and would be asked to defend your proposal, and, if needed, modify it in front of the board.
Cisco also offers the Cisco Certified Technician certification exam that measures one's skills in diagnosing, restoring, repairing and replacing critical Cisco system and networking devices at customer locations. The CCT tests for the following domains:
  • CCT Telepresence
  • CCT Data Center
  • CCT Routing and Switching
Those who are part of the Cisco Partner Program, including the resellers, designers and those who provide support for Cisco products, can get the Cisco Specialist certifications.
What You Should Know About Cisco Certification in General
Generally, Cisco certifications are timed and proctored. They usually last from one to two hours. Lab exams take eight hours. Question types vary, including multiple choice with single and multiple answers, fill in the blanks, simulations and drag and drop questions.
The exams are generally delivered online. The questions should be answered in sequence.
As for costs, entry-level exams typically range from $125 to $150. Associate level exams cost $150 to $295, professional, expert and specialist levels certification generally costs $200, $350 and $200, respectively.
As veteran IT pros already know, recertification is an important part of your ongoing IT career as well as an indicator of expertise to their employers. With Cisco, valid certifications may be renewed indefinitely, but must be maintained in a timely manner or certifications can expire or become inactive. Cisco recommends keeping all certifications current and suggests individuals should recertify by advancing to the next level of certification or passing the designated recertification exam(s).

The Brand New Microsoft Certification Program

Microsoft is yet again making substantial improvements to its IT training certification program. Whilst these changes ought to make the Microsoft certification program much easier to use, there are disadvantages involved and whoever has or is looking at getting Microsoft training need to pay attention to the way the program is evolving. It should also be known that those who have already got Microsoft certifications must also be familiar with these new improvements, because they have an impact on some Microsoft certificates.
What Modifications Are Going To Be Made?
Microsoft will be phasing out both of the MCITP title and the MCTS title. These certifications are going to be replaced by the MCSE and MCSA titles, which were the titles that Microsoft had been formerly utilizing for the longest time.
However, Microsoft does a lot more than merely changing the names around. It's also reducing its rating for the MCITP title, defining it as equal to the MCSA title and not to the MCSE title, which is generally regarded as being the top form of Microsoft certification.
Microsoft is yet again making re-certification a requisite for people who want to keep the new MCSE or MCSD title. Even though this is a requirement that angered numerous certificate holders when Microsoft initially tried to introduce it, many people are beginning to realize that continuous, rapid changes in the technology world make it impossible for a person to continue to hold to the same level of accreditation without regular education. MCSE certifications will need to be renewed every 3 years and MCSD certifications every 2 years. MCSA certifications are going to have no re-certification requirements.
Why the Modifications?
Microsoft's MCITP and MCTS titles weren't received well by both certificate students or those who were trying to hire graduates from Microsoft's certification program. Lots of businesses were and are still not technologically savvy and thus did not comprehend the differences between Microsoft's new certifications forms and the company's old ones. This meant it was difficult for individuals who were searching for a job, since these individuals needed to explain to prospective employers precisely what the new types of certification meant and why they were just as appropriate as the old ones.
Another reason why the initial program change was not appreciated is the fact that Microsoft declared that the new certificates would need to be routinely renewed. However, the company was vague regarding precisely what would have to be done to obtain certificate renewal and also when the certificates would expire. Needless to say, this situation created a large amount of uncertainty for people who were thinking of getting started with the Microsoft training program.
How to Upgrade Existing Certificates
Practically all new MCSE, MCSD and MCSA certification tracks provide special upgrade exams. These exams center on testing the know-how of a student on the new and changed features of a new technology version. The precondition of these upgrade examinations is always one or more valid MCTS or MCITP certifications. Additionally, in the event you currently hold a MCITP certification for Windows Server 2008 or Windows 7 you can expect to automatically receive a corresponding MCSA certification.
Are There Any Advantages Associated with Upgrading a Microsoft Certificate?
Because Microsoft has just recently changed the certification rules, it isn't imperative for a person to instantly upgrade his or her certification. There are numerous employers that are more than happy to hire a person with either a MCITP or MCTS certification, particularly if he or she has experience and can prove that he or she is staying abreast of new developments associated with his or her type of work.
Nonetheless, down the road it becomes good for a person to have new upgraded certifications that represent Microsoft's new systems and technology versions. Whilst it may require some time and money to acquire a new certification, it is worth the effort. Besides, the skills acquired under Microsoft's former program do count for something and can be put towards the study requirements for the new type of accreditation (via special upgrade examinations). The need to upgrade current certifications will get more urgent when companies begin using the more recent Microsoft technology versions (eg. Windows Server 2012, SQL Server 2012, SharePoint 2013, Exchange 2013 etcetera).
Microsoft's new certification system has worried some individuals who have been considering taking a Microsoft training course or have by now taken such a course. Even though the changes are not small or light in nature, they really are for the most part beneficial and in the long run will help to properly reflect the amount of education and expertise an individual has in any given area of IT. Anyone that is at the moment taking a Microsoft training course for one of the newer technologies will already be using the new program and so have nothing to be concerned about. Simultaneously, those who have old(er) certificates (or what is now known as legacy certification) can keep employing their old certifications with no problems, despite the fact that ultimately switching over to a newer certification is unquestionably a good idea.

3 Reasons Why You Should Get Certified

You know the debate. Should you be certified? That answer is simple: YES. And not for the reasons why you think.
Certification is a complex issue. You have opponents who say that 'paper' (fill in the blank) are useless. What do they know about running cable? What do they know about backups? What do they know about virtualization and the difference between VMWare virtual files and Microsoft's Hyper-V files?
In the trenches everyday techs are faced with a wide spectrum of issues. And that's why certification helps.
1. Your Employer Will Know You're Serious
Certification helps in the sense that your employer will know that you're serious about your career. Your immediate boss will know you're serious. If there should ever come a time where you're forced to leave, being certified in technical and business disciplines are essential. Employers want employees who need very little start time to get acclimated to their systems. In reality you'll be lucky if you're trained on how that company carries on technical job functions. More than likely you'll have to learn on your own and fast. Certification will give you a competitive edge especially if you already have real world experience.
2. Keeps Your Mind Fresh
Certification challenges your mind. Certification also puts you in touch with what the marketplace wants. It's easy to get stuck in your own world especially if the company you work for is very stable (thanks to you of course!). Seriously, certification is a testament to your skills. Enhancing your skills will enhance your career and your ability to make better decisions.
3. Take Courses Outside Tech
That's right. Business courses such as accounting for non-acountants will enable you to see through the eyes of your CFO, comptroller or finance staff member. When it comes down to budget time, you'll be able to better express your wants in your finance member's terms. Instead of saying 'I need a mail server' and giving technical reasons why (which will only lead to your own frustration by being denied), you'll be better equipped to communicate in their language. This shows your finance staff member that you're paying attention to what they do and are showing them respect.
Certification doesn't have to be overly time consuming. Certification has to be strategic in order to make better use of your time and resources. Certification is necessary. These 3 Reasons Why You Should Get Certified will assist you on making your decision to be certified.

Continuing Education for Computer Skills

Coping with a shortage of skilled workers, there has been a renewed focus on the transfer of tangible workplace skills. While universities can provide students with a broad base of knowledge and the ability to learn how to learn, it is the hard-application specific skills that are most valued by employers, which can generally be acquired and demonstrated most efficiently at trade colleges and continuing education programs. A greater focus on practical computer science, including coding, web design and information technology (IT) can be found in several online courses and colleges offering innovative hybrids of integrated learning. Until coding is taught in elementary schools like a foreign language, job seekers hoping to acquire the relevant skills to land lucrative Bay Street positions may need to look in less expected areas.
Where once college classes were filled with students straight out of high school, in recent years mature students looking to upgrade their career skills or change careers have become the norm. Many of these programs offer flexibility appealing to those balancing work and family obligations, with online, part-time or short-term intensive certificates. Course directors go directly to industry contacts to discuss the job market's needs of today and tomorrow to emphasize practical real-world learning. Instructors often work in the given industry, bringing their job expertise to students, who also can share their experiences to make for dynamic and interactive classrooms. The access to potential employers and others in the industry helps grads get a head start with valuable career networking.
Recent research showed that web designers and developers are the most in demand, with only 7% of available jobs being currently filled. Database administrators and information systems analysts are other lucrative fields in which employers are struggling to find qualified candidates. Clearly there are jobs out there for candidates with the right skill set.
To have a successful career in the Information Technology industry, it takes a combination of mathematics, logic, communication and organization skills with specific capabilities in industry-standard hardware and software. Technical skills for hardware support are very mechanical based, using cables, servers and the various components of network administration. As this industry is constantly evolving, continuing education may serve the purpose of filling gaps in knowledge to update training to present standards. For anyone seeking IT courses, Academy of Learning College is a leader for both jobs and training options.
Web designers use a combination of software functionality and graphic design skills to create web pages that fulfill business needs for clients. The verbal communication skills to interact with clients are just as important as the visual communications. Proficiency with computer languages and familiarity with browser and server issues are necessary in today's market. Good web design courses mix innovative thinking with a hands-on approach that allows graduates to step right in to rewarding careers.

What Good Is an ECDL/ICDL Diagnostic Test?

The ECDL Core is the most wide-spread ECDL certificate. It is aimed at everyone who would like to prove their basic computer skills.
The Core Certificate attests that you
  • are proficient in internationally used applications,
  • can use the computer efficiently,
  • can keep up with further developments in information technology without any difficulties
  • and you have the required basics for further IT-education.
The ECDL Advanced comprises of four modules and builds on the Core modules of the same name. For each of these modules an individual certificate can be acquired. Like this for instance Excel experts can acquire an ICDL Advanced certificate in spreadsheets. After passing at least three ICDL Advanced modules of your choice you are entitled to call yourself a specialist in Office applications. You will receive the ICDL Expert certificate, which attests your extensive and professional skills.
In the following article you'll find described, how you can prepare for a certification test most efficiently.
In contrast to the "real" certification, the diagnostic test contains about twice as many questions (60-80), has no time limit set, and after completion shows a detailed analysis of all answers given.
With the completion of it, one significantly increases the chance of passing a real exam, unless one has not performed well in the diagnostic test. If that is the case, with help of the analysis at the end of the diagnostic test, one should be able to detect which areas he has to go through again with some learning.
To have a realistic experience of the certification exams, it is recommended to apply the same rules to the diagnostic testing session. These are:
  • No books or documents are allowed whilst taking the exam
  • The use of the internet is prohibited
  • Using the built-in-functions of the office programs however are allowed
The average candidate needs about 60-80 minutes, in order to complete the test. Try to stick to these time limits in order to see, if you are fast enough in responding to the questions. The certification exams however have a time limit set at 30-45 minutes, but that should be feasible if you were able to answer all questions beforehand in the diagnostic test.
Anyone who is not yet sure whether he / she wants to take a diagnostic test, could also try out first with a free ECDL demo test. The demo test however contains only five questions, but gives a rough idea about what the diagnostic and certification test looks like.

Spread Your Culture Through Collaborative Learning Modules

Culture is everywhere:-
Every environment or community has a culture of its own. Now there is a common myopia about the term culture, that stops one from forming the write perception about the concept. Culture can be defined as everything that one sees around. Right from human behavior, psychology, thought processes, perceptions to interpretations, every single thing is embodied by culture.
OK but what's culture in terms of an organization?
An organizational culture is nothing distinct. It also includes the same elements of a normal culture, but they are shaped in a different pattern. For instance, lets assume that an unfortunate incident takes place in an office. Different persons will react to the unforeseen event differently, depending on their respective mindsets. But the effectiveness lies there, if despite of the personality differences, everyone acts equally to achieve the same goal (in this case averting the perils of the unforeseen happening). That is the power of an organizational culture that holds all the diverse natures into one concrete frame.
Is it easy to attain?
Obviously, it is not easy to achieve such a tough objective. The reason is quite clear. Although employees work on a same platform, but still they are governed by their own principles and ideologies. People are highly reluctant to curb their personal thinking process. Actually they are reluctant to sacrifice (or more specifically compromise) their personal goals and motives for anything. However with the advent of collaborative learning courses available in the market, firms are finding it easier to tackle this uncompromising behavior of employees. Collaborative learning course modules are enriched with disciplines that teach employees team spirit and group dynamics.
Different colors, but still one painting, different spices, but still one dish:-
As stated earlier, employees find it a herculean task to align their motives according to the goals of an organization. However, today's new online learning training modules help employees to broaden their perceptual powers. These online learning training sessions enlarge the vision of the employees of an organization. This learning enriches the workers with an understanding, that helps them to view organizational goals as their own goals. They learn wise techniques to perceive organizational goals, as ways to fulfill their personal aspirations.
So to justify the subtitle, it can be said that, although they are distinct in terms of persona, but still they are parts of one single organization (recall the patriotic saying - unity in diversity).
Culture knowledge getting mobile centric:-
Owing to the increasing popularity of smartphones and tablet gadgets, it has become instrumental for e learning service providers to make their knowledge tools compatible to such devices. This utility provided by e learning service providers is called mobile learning. E learning service providers have generated learning tools which are highly customized to fit various mobile applications and interfaces. Mobile learning training modules are made to suit perfectly to almost all mobile technologies.
Owing these innumerable benefits, e learning training modules are gaining wide scale acceptance from corporate customers across diverse industry segments. Anyone willing to hire such a service, can log on to the web and get in touch with a reliable one.

Changes To The Cisco CCNA Certification

Cisco has incorporated some significant changes into their CCNA program of study, and this has been done in order to keep up with the constant changes in the field of IT technology. All in all, anyone who wishes to progress in their IT career has to train for and take the CCNA exam, and subsequently obtain the relevant certification.
The adjustments that were made by Cisco led to the removal of a number of topics from the old CCNA exam, and these include:
- The challenges of shared LANS and how to solve them with switches
- Wireless LANs
- Enabling RIP (has been replaced by OSPF)
- Configuring serial encapsulation
- Using Cisco SDM
The modifications essentially mean that you have to study more to keep up with the exam requirements since there is also a lot that has been added to replace much of what has been done away with. The new areas include configuring IPv6 routing, implementing VLANs, introducing basic IPv6, network address translation and port address translation. However, if you feel that you may become disoriented by sitting for the new CCNA version, you can still sit for 640-802 CCNA, but you can only get to do so before the 30th of September 2013, which is the deadline that has been put in place by Cisco.
In the event that you do not have the resources to sign up for CCNA training, there are various avenues through which you can still obtain the knowledge you require to sit for an exam and successfully attain the certification. Getting the CCNA certification after Cisco training comes with some great advantages. Here are some of the benefits of training:
- CCNA training increases ones understanding of technological concepts, thus it is not only beneficial to someone who intends to enter the field, but also to a professional who has been in the industry. It ensures that you are up to date with the changes taking place in the market.
- Obtaining the certification to show your validation is a great achievement in itself, and it gives you an upper hand in the technology industry.
- Once you get the certification, it places you in a good position to go for more of the other Cisco certifications.
- You acquire more respect, from both colleges and employers. While CCNA 1.1 still gives you a good standing, the new version makes your credentials even more marketable as the certification is very much respected.
- The courses for the new CCNA version have become tougher, but as much as this is the case, when you pass the exam, you are best placed to face the challenges in the industry.
There are also some additional useful resources such as eBooks, which you can access to ensure that you have in depth knowledge of the topics to be covered in the exam. Furthermore, there are numerous forums through which you can hold discussions with peers so that you are best prepared to handle the CCNA exams.
You can as well sign up for online training courses so that you get acquainted with the topics that are on the exam. You additionally need to know how to deal with the hands-on section during the assessment, and through the various tutorials on the internet you can acquire the requisite Cisco training. The exams are comprehensive and you have to put the information you have acquired into practical use within a limited time.
Exams need a lot of studying and practicing, and the same case applies to the CCNA certification. You have to read and practice as much as possible so that you are satisfactorily prepared. Remember, passing the CCNA exam will not only open a new path in your career, but it will also help you market your expertise better than the non-certified individuals out there.

Post Economic Downturn IT Training And Careers

A lot of changes are happening in the corporate IT departments and the IT industry as a whole. As a result they are affecting the market for jobs, the skills needed in order to secure a job and the salaries awarded to professionals. But, despite these factors, computer courses remain popular.
IT professionals are generally optimistic about their employment prospects. They believe that in spite of everything that is happening this is the best time to be in the IT industry. Such professionals believe that the jobs and careers on offer will help them become well rounded thus refining them in their careers and business. Cloud computing has caused a lot of structural changes in the corporate IT departments. This has led to the eradication of certain technology so professionals have a greater chance to rotate to other positions in the business unit.
Despite all the outsourcing and layoffs that are taking place this is a good time to get IT training. There are some jobs that are more stable so some employers are opting to hire professionals on long tenures. Big organizations would rather hire IT workers on a long term basis because it is hard to find another person with the same knowledge of the company's IT architect as them.
If you want to pursue an IT career you need to be flexible and adaptable. The IT job market is slowly recovering from the blow it was dealt in 2009. However, it is not easy for someone to secure a position at the different levels of employment. As much as there are job vacancies they are not enough, employers are not ready to hire new talent on a full time basis.
IT jobs are stressful, demanding and fast paced. In addition to that, they are laden with a lot of responsibility with little recognition. On the other hand, most people pursue this career because they love technology and have strong logical and analytical minds. They also have very good problem solving skills, another key part of computer courses.
IT skills require constant refreshing, but are highly appreciated. However, as you move onto management you need to multi-skill. If you are an IT manager you need a combination of soft skills and the technical skills in order to succeed, so this is another option as well as updating your IT training regularly. They should be able to communicate, build relationships with their subordinates and other parties and lead or manage teams. When someone attains the CIO status they need less technological expertise and more leadership and business savvy.
Regardless of whether you want to stick with IT training or move to management, computer courses are still a good investment for many people who want to have a stable career.

Tips on Finding the Rack Rentals

One of the most prestigious and difficult, yet rewarding certifications an IT expert may get is the CCIE certification. Unfortunately, it may really be expensive as you need to have a CCIE rack in order for you to be familiar with the entire configuration needed to be applied on the system. Luckily, there are several online businesses that provide rack rentals at competitive rates, thus, you will not be obliged to spend a lot of money in order for you to acquire such prestigious skill.
But you have to thoroughly check the company you will transact with. Rack rentals may really be expensive, thus, you have to make sure that you get what you really paid for. Here are some tips you might want to consider in order for you to be certain that you are not taken for granted.
• Price. Why spend a lot of money if you may be able to find a business that provides competitively-priced rack rentals? Yes, you just have to thoroughly check all the companies that offer rack rentals and you will surely be able to find a business that may be able to compensate on all your needs.
• Quality. Do not just focus on where you may be able to save some cash. You should also consider what the rack rentals' package includes. Thoroughly check the performance of the routers and other equipments and ensure that everything is working well, so that you will not have a compromised experience. You also need to check how it was configured so that you will be certain that it matches all the present materials you have.
• Credibility. Check the company's credibility. Go after a company that has a good track record. With that, you will be guaranteed with well-delivered assistance and services. Rack rentals should always be coming from established and well-known vendors, not just from someone whom you've bumped with and has given you flowery lines so as to attract you to rent some CCIE racks from them.
• Customer Support. Since you are not yet familiar on how the whole system works, you might probably experience several technical problems which are hard to figure out, thus, you need professional assistance from the company that provided rack rentals. Make sure that you will deal with someone who will not leave you behind during the whole process in order for you to be completely guided, and be certain that the methods you are applying is what will turn out to be beneficial to you.
Being CCIE certified is an achievement that may only be achieved with effort and money. It comes with a price, well, that is a downside, but after all the training and the rack rentals you have to go through, you will be certain in the end that all investments are worth the certification.
Be careful in choosing the right company that provides rack rentals. Do not rush, take some time analyzing if what they are offering may be able to compensate on all your technical needs.

Mock Test From a Reputable CCIE Server Provider Lab

There are several CCIE server provider labs that are passionate in providing assistance to IT experts aspiring to receive their CCIE certification effectively. Apart from the theoretical and analytical skills being mastered during the training sessions, a CCIE server provider laboratory also works on a "mock test" wherein the actual examination is being mimicked, thus, ensuring their students that they may be able to pass the examination, when the actual day comes. Students are being exposed to the actual examination, wherein internetworking must be done accurately.
In choosing the right CCIE server provider lab, you have to thoroughly check the strategies they apply to their students in order for them to pass the examination. The fact that you will be spending a lot of money should never be disregarded, thus, only the best services should be able to receive. An offer you should never miss is the mock test, indeed, as it is almost similar to what you may go through during the actual test, as your chosen CCIE server provider lab will provide you the blueprint that will keep you updated and informed.
A mock exam coming from a professional CCIE server provider lab lasts for about 8 hours, with a 30-minute break. During the mock exam, you will go through several tests wherein your skills and capabilities after all the training will be checked. At least 80% must be achieved in order for you to have the confidence that you already have the skills to pass the actual CCIE certification exam.
In case you are confused, you are being allowed to ask questions from the proctor of your chosen CCIE server provider lab. Unfortunately, you will not be given the right answer, rather just some clarification. Your proctor will not also affirm or negate on anything you will do, so as to ensure that you will not be spoon-fed of all the things you are obliged to accomplish.
Please take note that you have to follow what you are instructed to do. You cannot just decide to change an IP without being told so. Learn how to read and follow instructions in order for you to effectively do the internetworking. Also, please do not forget that you should ALWAYS save the configuration as problems may occur and going back to the process once again will be time consuming. Remember, you have to be able to finish everything within 8 hours.
The grade will be provided by your proctor as soon as what you did had been checked thoroughly. Everything should work 100% in order for you to receive a passing score from your chosen CCIE server provider lab. If you are confused because several answers may be applied on the mock test, ALWAYS choose the best answer.
A mock test is something not all CCIE server provider labs may provide their students and so if you have found a vendor who does, then grab the opportunity and let them guide you towards reaching your dream of becoming a CCIE certified.

Why the Right Approach Towards ITIL Certification Is Important for IT Professionals?

ATOs provide ITIL training based on the various ITIL accreditation levels. To make the courses easier, less complicated, and hierarchical, the ITIL core-which is comprised of 23 processes and four functions-is broken down into five ITIL Service Lifecycle stages or publications. These are: Service Strategy, Service Design, Service Transition, Service Operation and Continual Service Improvement.
Training for each exam can use a variety of techniques and methodologies such as memorization techniques (rote learning) and thorough, in-depth understanding of concepts. Rote learning neither aids understanding nor enables knowledge acquisition and expansion, especially knowledge in the DIKW sense. Many people with good memory skills can memorize the names of concepts at the data and information levels and pass the exam without actually understanding the course objectives. Given this case, such a certification is not going to serve any worthwhile purpose in the future because those holding such credentials will be not be able to explain or relate the appropriate concepts and processes to projects and processes within their service organizations. Although a candidate should be able to remember the names of the 23 processes, what is more important is to understand each process, its sub-processes, its interrelationships with other processes, its functioning, and its role in the overall ITIL framework. This understanding has to be accompanied by knowledge of how to apply the learned concepts in real, experiential scenarios. This understanding comes when students work on case studies, which facilitate a holistic approach to learning.
The exam for the ITIL Foundation certification is 60 minutes long. A candidate needs to correctly answer 26 or more of the test's 40 questions to become ITIL Foundation certified. The latest version of the ITIL Foundation exam/certification is based on the revised syllabus, that is, on the ITIL 2011 Foundation syllabus rather than the older ITIL v3. The exam on the ITIL Foundation follows an objective-question based exam pattern wherein every question is followed by four options. The candidate has to choose the correct option among the four, and each correctly answered question earns 1 mark. Questions are based on Bloom's Taxonomy level; that is, they are of varying difficulty levels ranging from very easy to medium to difficult. Though questions of an easy level can be answered correctly by a stroke of luck, the questions of medium and difficult levels can be conquered only by relying on proper understanding and not just rote learning. Also, after earning ITIL Foundation certification, the IT professionals will need to use ITIL jargon and acronyms during service negotiations and discussions with external parties, such as clients and suppliers, as this will facilitate barrier-free communication among the various stakeholders working on an IT project.
In other words, ITIL Foundation certification should not be approached as the end goal of ITIL training; rather, ITIL Training should be perceived as the start of a long and eventful journey into the world of project management in the IT world. How important is the right approach to training? The training approach determines how useful the training will prove to be. The importance of the approach is determined by the importance of that use. Candidates should chisel out their knowledge by understanding the concepts and approaches learned during ITIL training for each ITIL examination and ITIL Certification. The knowledge gathered will become the means and tools to contribute effectively to one's service organization; and that's important.

4 Reasons to Become a Certified Information Technology Professional

I have been asked many times, "Is getting vendor certified worth all the trouble?" And I have always been on the side of not getting certified, only for the reason that I am an engineer who is not certified. Sure, I have done well without the credentials, but I am starting to come around that getting your certification is a necessity for any Information Technology profession either starting out or continuing their career in this industry.
Here are 4 reasons to become a certified Information Technology professional.
Many employers require the certification
I am not the only one that has been overlooked for a position due to the fact that I do not hold a vendor certification. Employers want to know that the person has both the knowledge and the experience to do the job effectively, with little or no supervision. And employers are willing to pay great salaries to those professionals who continue to certify and grow their knowledge base during their career. So don't just get one certification. Look to continue testing to higher levels.
Certifying will help you to become a well-rounded professional
I once thought that I could learn everything on the job and get by. But after being in the industry for over 15 years, I have learned that what I do know is relevant to my current position. If I was to go on and move to another position, I would struggle because my knowledge base is not at a level that would make the transition a smooth one. The knowledge that I would have obtained would have filled those holes that I have to make me a better well-rounded engineer in my field.
Would you want an unlicensed/uncertified doctor operating on you?
Well, this is something that would scare me if I was to go under the knife. It just makes good sense that an IT professional be certified as a way to show that they can do the job. Customers may be hesitant to purchase IT services if they realize that the IT professionals that they are buying services from are not certified professionals. And this would be another reason that employers may demand certified professionals.
Getting certified is a good way to make a career change
Getting certified in a new IT field is a great way to re-invent your career. Someone could be looking to make a move from the routing and switching field to a cloud-computing field. Getting a new certification in the cloud-computing field would be a good way to make that jump. Also, new professionals to the Information Technology industry can become certified by simply studying for the test and passin

Why Some ITIL Certification Providers Prefer Online ITIL Training Courses

The natural resources are getting depleted day by day, but it must be noted that technology is moving at a fast pace. Now anyone can have the world in their hands provided they have the latest technology gadgets at their disposal. Learning has also changed for the better with knowledge coming to a student's doorstep or shall we say, laptop in the form of online courses.
Schools and colleges from all over the world are recognizing the importance of online courses as it is the best option for saving money from every corner. The way of gaining knowledge has drastically changed a lot in recent times due to the Internet phenomenon. A good ITIL online course with excellent feedback from participants coupled with a high pass percentage can definitely attract interested students from all over the globe. Even small time ITIL Certification training providers have jumped on to the bandwagon because they can attract anyone from any country and an ITIL online training course does not have any boundaries.
An ITIL Training Institute can provide ITIL courses (ITIL Foundation; Lifecycle Intermediate courses such as Service Transition and Continual Service Improvement or Capability Intermediate courses such as Operations Support and Analysis) by giving access to the participants so they can gain knowledge regarding their area of interest at their own pace.
With multiple software tools which can be downloaded free from the Internet, a participant can download the courseware on to their computer or they can access it online. Online training is beneficial for both Participants and ITIL Training Institutes.
Advantages of ITIL Online courses for Participants:
A student can understand a chapter completely and then move on to the next one. In case of a clarification, he can shoot an email to the Training Institute's website and his queries will be answered.
An online ITIL Training course would not be that of a big book containing all the course content, but easily understandable figures, captions, tables etc. Important topics would be marked by means of bullet points rather than having long paragraphs in a traditional class.
All the Training Institutes have courseware that is up-to-date with the recent syllabus.
Advantages for ITIL Training Providers on Online Training courses:
An online training course saves on the costs attained through providing classroom space for ITIL training and no Instructor has to be paid remuneration.
An Instructor is not needed 24/7 to handle queries by the participant. But it should be answered within a stipulated time frame as per the policies of Training Institute.
MyITstudy.com is one of the few ATO's which advertises its success rate of classroom ITIL Certifiction Courses on their website.professional ITIL Courses, mentioned in the website are conducted all over the world by Experienced Faculties. Five Reasons to Become a Certified Business Analyst

The field of business analysis is growing in popularity year by year and companies are looking for top-notch experienced business analysts. Many of the best business analysts have sought out industry certification. The International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) is an independent non-profit professional association that provides business analysis certification. IIBA® provides two distinct professional business analyst certifications: Certification of Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA®) and Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP®). Depending on your level of business analysis experience, you may qualify for one of these certifications, but how do you know if certification is a good option for you?
Here are five good reasons to become a certified business analyst:
  1. Stand out in the job market - If you are currently looking for a new business analyst position, or plan to do so in the next couple years, professional certification can be a differentiator between you and other job seekers and can move your resume to the top of the pile.

  2. Round out your business analysis knowledge - There are many different facets to business analysis and you may only have experience in some of them. While studying for certification, you will learn many new concepts that you can apply to your daily BA work.

  3. Show your employer that you are growth-minded - In order to move up in your current job or be more marketable for future jobs, it is important to show a desire to keep growing and learning. Studying for and passing a certification exam will show that you are striving to enhance your skills.

  4. A sense of personal accomplishment - Sometimes it's just important to have a goal and show yourself you can do it. A sense of personal accomplishment will give you self-confidence and make you more willing to travel outside of your comfort zone.

  5. Establish yourself as a "go to" person on your team - If you desire to be a leader on your work team, having an industry certification can help to establish your credibility. As you study the certification materials and after you pass the exam, you will have opportunities to bring up industry best practices with your teammates and try them out. Just be careful that you don't get "preachy" about best practices. Remember that everyone handles change differently.
If any of these reasons resonate with you, it is a good time to look up the requirements for business analysis certification and see whether you can currently meet them. If not, you can easily put a plan together with steps to get there.

CCNA or CompTIA Network+ - Which Certification Is Right for You?

CCNA and CompTIA Network+ certification are both highly recognized certifications in the industry. However, there are a number of differences between the two. If you are considering getting a certification in networking, this article will help you to understand the differences between the two and also, help you decide which certification is right for you. We will look at the different aspects in which the two certifications differ, but to start with, let's look at a brief overview of both the certifications.
CCNA: The CCNA Routing and Switching certification validates one's ability to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot medium-size routed and switched networks.
CompTIA Network+: This certification demonstrates knowledge of networking features and functions, including network technologies, installation and configuration, media and topologies, management, and security
So how are the two different? Let's have a look.
1. Vendor-neutrality: This is the most important difference between the two. The fact that CCNA is a Cisco certification shows that CCNA is specifically designed for Cisco's networking products, though it does cover other networking topics as well. CompTIA's Network+ certification, on the other hand, is a completely vendor neutral certification and covers the fundamentals of networking.
2. Difficulty level of the certification exam: The CCNA certification exam is by far the tougher of the two examinations and assumes that you have a basic knowledge of networking concepts. So effectively, Network+ is a more fundamental examination whereas CCNA is the advanced certification.
3. Industry popularity: Both the certifications are highly popular in the industry. For e.g. Dell, Sharp, HP and others recommend or require that their network technicians have a CompTIA Network+ certification. As the N+ is vendor-neutral, the certification is recognized in almost all companies. A CCNA certification is in high demand in all the organizations where Cisco's networking products are installed. Given Cisco's 54% market share in the networking market space, it is evident that a CCNA certification will stand one in good stead in a vast majority of companies. Even companies which do not user Cisco products respect the CCNA certification because of the difficulty level of the exam.
4. Type of jobs post-certification: Network+ certification is great at opening doors for entry level networking jobs, like a network technician, network administrator, network installer, help desk technician or IT cable installer. Prior experience in networking is recommended, but not necessary for landing these jobs. CCNA, on the other hand, is for entry level network engineers, network specialists or network administrators who have been working in the networking space for one to three years. Thus, a CCNA will make you eligible for more advanced networking jobs where Cisco products are deployed.
Hence, depending on the level of your experience and the type of networking products your current or target organization is using, you can decide on which certification to go for, based on the parameters mentioned above.

What Is an Equipment Audit?

Equipment is considered to be an asset for your business or personal holdings. A vehicle, such as, would be considered to be equipment and an asset because it has value. In order to make sure that equipment is being maintained to the highest of standards, an audit of that equipment should be taken at least once per year so that any issues that diminish the value of the asset can be immediately resolved. It goes beyond value, however, because regular equipment check up can help to make equipment safer to use as well.
Equipment Audits Verify Assets
Many organizations choose to do yearly equipment audits because they want to make sure they actually have all the equipment listed on their asset sheet. These audits help to keep employees honest and the equipment where it is supposed to be. The first step in many equipment audits then is to make sure that the equipment is at the physical location that it is assigned to be at. If it is not, then the auditor will file the proper documentation based on policies and rules of the auditing company and hiring corporation and attempt to find the asset.
What Happens During an Equipment Audit?
Many audits begin with a visual inspection of the equipment. The auditor with thoroughly look at all the components of the equipment to make sure they are in good working condition. This visual inspection will also note any mechanical repairs that may have been made, that need to be made, or upgrades that could be made to make the equipment run more efficiently. If there are any severe issues that would include the value of the asset or the safety of those operating the equipment, the auditor may choose to immediately take the equipment out of service as well.
Why Choose To Do an Equipment Audit?
The nature of having assets with value is that there are tax implications associated with that value. Equipment check up can help to verify a proper level of depreciation that is not above and beyond what someone is able to claim on that value. Too much depreciation of the equipment and a company will lose overall value because the asset is worth less than what they are forced to claim. If there is too much depreciation taking place, a care plan can then be developed for the asset so that it can keep as much value as possible for as long as possible.
Are You Doing Equipment Audits?
Though the average person doesn't need to do so, the average business owner should do one. Equipment check up doesn't have to include major pieces of equipment to be beneficial - the home-based business can do an equipment audit of their computer, printer, and peripherals annually to make sure they are in the best working order possible. With the right equipment operating the right way, a business is able to do business more effectively. That's ultimately why equipment audits are integral to the process of asset care.
KBA provides systematic and independent equipment audit for project operations. Each audit is carried out in accordance with the internationally recognized standard of the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA).

Top IT Certifications and Which Certification Is Right for You?

The biggest concern for anyone who wants to start his career is deciding which certifications to start off from. Many get confused seeing the big names like Microsoft, Cisco, VMware etc.
The thing about these IT certification surveys is that they feature more or less the same IT trainings that you would need. Infact if you analyse these IT certification surveys over a few years time, you would see that the list seems to contain the same certifications with a slight change in the order. This is simple to understand as the demand in any particular certification cannot improve overnight and would require a lot of investment in the supporting infrastructure for any certification's market to grow.
It is not merely a co-incidence that the Microsoft, Cisco and CompTIA certifications almost always seem to be in the top 10 list.
The products sold by these companies are pretty famous and hence the supporting infrastructure for such certifications is always there. The only change with respect to these certifications would be an upgrade to the current IT training. For e.g. the demand for Microsoft Server 2008 trainings might shift to Microsoft Server 2012 but by and large, the market remains.
But the critical question to ask in such a scenario is, what is the right certification for you? Merely following data on average salary would not be appropriate because the data contains people with varied experiences across different industries. A person with a decade of experience and a particular certification would obviously warrant a better pay than a fresh graduate with the same certification.
A number of surveys are conducted in this regard that showcase their new top 5 or top 10 certifications of the year that are a must have for bagging the most desirable jobs in the market. These surveys also include the expected salary that people certified in that subject would demand in the market. A few examples of such surveys can be found here or here. Notice how these certifications mention what your salary bump is after getting the IT certification.
It is critical that the candidate going for any particular certification has clarity on the type of career he/she wants to pursue. The candidate must then list out the certifications relevant to his/her industry of choice and then proceed to choose a certification. All the major IT certification providers have categorized their training as Entry-level, Advanced and Master. Depending on the desired careers, candidates must choose the certification of their preference

Are You Ready to Apply to Become a Certified Business Analyst?

Studying for one of the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) certification exams is a big commitment, but first there is the application process. Documenting your experience can be a daunting task. The IIBA requires a certain number of overall business analysis experience hours as well as specific experience hours in several of the knowledge areas listed in the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK). Professional development hours are also required. Here is the breakdown:
  • The Certification of Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA) requires 3750 hours of business analysis experience in the last 7 years. It also requires 900 hours in two knowledge areas or 500 hours in four knowledge areas.
  • The Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) exam requires 7500 hours of business analysis experience in the last 10 years as well as 900 hours in four knowledge areas.
  • Both exams require 21 hours of professional development in the last four years.
A good time to start documenting your hours of experience is as soon as you decide you are interested in certification. You will need to track hours separately for each project you have worked on. In order to meet the standards on the IIBA certification applications, you will need the following information:
  • Project Name and description
  • A project contact - your manager, project owner or the project manager
  • Start and end dates for the project
  • Total hours spent on BA work during the project
  • Of the total hours, how many fall into each of the six BABOK knowledge areas
After you have done some initial recording of all of your BA work by project, you can evaluate the following to determine if you are ready to apply for certification:
  • Do you have enough hours to qualify for one of the certifications? If not, will you have enough in the next two months?
  • Does your breakdown by knowledge area meet the minimum requirements for the exam you want to apply for?
  • Can you meet the professional development requirements for the application?
  • Have you read the certification handbook on the IIBA website for the exam you want to apply for?
  • Have you read through the BABOK at least once?
  • Do you have two references who would be willing to recommend you for business analysis certification? They must be career managers, clients or current CBAP certification holders.
If you cannot answer yes to all of these questions, it is best to postpone starting your certification application until you can. You must take the exam within one year from when your application is approved. However, it is best to take it within six months so that you have enough time to take it again before your application expires if you do not pass on the first try.
